As a nation, we must use our water more efficiently because it is a precious resource that can’t be taken for granted. This is why State Law (AB 2572) was enacted in 2004 to require that all water suppliers must install water meters on all customer connections by January 1, 2025. Between now and then, we will be systematically retrofitting the plumbing at the service connection for our customers. The retrofit will consist of raising the shut-off valve to within a foot of the surface, installing new fittings, placing a “meter blank” to hold the space for where the meters will be placed and enclosing the work in a meter box with a concrete lid.

The retrofit will not only aid in the water meter conversion, but it will also improve our ability to quickly locate and shut off and on your service connection in emergencies. All work shall be done as minimally invasive and unobtrusive as possible and only on weekdays between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m. Bakman Water Company would like to thank its customers for cooperating with us for an adjustment that will help future generations.
