CUSTOMER UPDATE ON WATER COMPANY PLEASE READ: Dear Valued Customers:
Bakman Water Company would like to thank all of our loyal customers for their overwhelming support with our request to contact your city councilmember’s and county supervisor. Please know that your voices did not go unheard. Your responses and concerns directed toward the City Council were acknowledged and prevailed; they have stalled their attempts to acquire Bakman Water Company. Officially we understand that the negative declaration which stated the reason for the City of Fresno’s aggressive pursuit of our company has been shelved and an alternate position by the City in regards to remediation of the TCE plume originating from Old Hammer Field (FAT) has been adopted. Bakman Water Company received this correspondence in late March of 2005, but confirmation of this information was not verified until late April. This information was a relief after 2 ˝ years of fighting for our water systems protection from contamination and our right to exist as a free enterprise. Now we can finally feel secure that remediation is moving in the right direction by those responsible. This process has brought any vulnerability that may be a problem for us in the future to our attention now. We are well underway with planning and implementing a recharge plan addressing all the State and City requirements and concerns. In looking at the big picture, the lessons we have learned through this struggle will help strengthen our right of survival in the future. We are grateful to you, our customers, for your support letters, news paper editorials, phone calls, and appearances etc. showing all of Fresno that we will not go quietly.
Again, we would like to thank you for your current support and let you know we are aggressively moving toward being able to continue to deliver the same quality water and customer service that we have always believed in and maintained. We will continue to keep you informed and up to date with the latest information regarding the Water Company and any future help we may need from our customers.
